When Charles White isn’t sending rockets into space with NASA you may just find him playing EVE Online. Better known online as Max Singularity, the Space pope, he has had tremendous experience with the game, and has worked with the company to improve the development of in-game roleplaying. This is a game is incredibly community-oriented with high levels of player interaction, and the pope himself has some amazing stories to tell to prove it. He will also talk a bit about the “Broadcast for Reps” program, an initiative where suicidal players in need get help from other players.
Being at a con all day can take its toll and be quite tiring. It’s important to take care of yourself during the event, and we will do our very best to help you do it. This year you will find a quiet-zone in our medic room, where you can come sit down and relax for a bit in silence away from the hustle and bustle of the convention. So if you have a migraine and you’re feeling unwell, or even if you’re just tired and need a bit of time away from people, you know where to go.
This panel is all about everyone’s right to feel safe when participating in cosplay and convention culture. Robin Aronsson is educated in norm-criticim within RFSU and was head of the equal treatment initiative at Närcon in 2015. Here he will talk about subjects such as Cosplay is not Consent, discrimination and harassment within the community and how to handle uncomfortable situations both when they happen to ourselves and when we witness it happen to someone else.
