You don’t need expensive cameras or your own band to make awesome music videos. Mix and match clips from your favourite series and films with some great music and suddenly you get something completely new and exciting! And at Banzaicon you will not only have the opportunity to show your creation on the big screen in our main hall, you can win fabulous prizes while you’re at it!

This year we will give prices in three categories:

  • AMV – Anime Music Video – our traditional contest where you can use clips from any animated source.
  • FMV – Fan Music Video – This year we also accept fan videos using live action films and series as sources.
  • Additionally we will be giving out an audience award for the video that gets the biggest reaction from the audience, regardless of category

You can send in as many entries as you want, so get down in front of your PC and work those editing muscles!

Lipsync battle

14. July 2016 Maritim Fun and games, Stage shows 0 Comments

Who hasn’t dream of being a superstar, rocking out the stage with awesome moves and sweet tunes? Sadly, most of us never get to that. But don’t fret, at Banzaicon you will have your chance, and it doesn’t even matter if you’ve got a good singing voice or not!

The lipsync battle is a tournament where theatrics and stage presence is everything. Two people enter the stage, are given microphones (that don’t actually work) and a song of their own choosing is played. They then perform the song (singing is optional) and the star with the best showmanship, chosen by the audience, moves on to the next round. Can you reach the top?

If you want to join the lipsync battle you can either sign up in the activity stand at the con or simply show up 10 minutes before its scheduled to start. We do have a limited amount of spots open though, so if you really want to join we recommend signing up.

Cosplay Chess Show!

17. June 2016 Maritim Activities, Fun and games 0 Comments

CBG (Cosplay Board Games) is a Swedish organization who combine the fun of cosplay, boardgames and stageshows into one magic event, and we’re happy to announce they will be doing so at Banzaicon 7!

You may have heard of cosplay chess before. Well, we’re doing that, but we’re adding a bit more excitement. We’ll take to the stage with a pre-planned game where the focus is put on the action-filled duels between the characters/chess pieces.

For this event, cosplayers must sign up in advance and there will be some time before the event for everyone to come together, get to know each other and practice some cool moves and combos. Are you a sneaky pawn, a bold knight or the king of the board? Join us and find out!

The cosplay chess show will take place on Sunday.

To sign up, send an email to with the following info:

– Your name
– Phone number
– What character you will be cosplaying
– What fandom/series the character is from
– How fragile is your costume? Do you want to have a verbal or physical duel?*

*There will be no actual fighting, but even staged fights might be risky to a gragile costume, so let us know!

NB. All participants in this event must be signed up before the con! There are limited spaces, so make sure you get your spot!

Polystudio kommer til Banzaicon

5. June 2016 Maritim Activities, Fun and games, Guests, News, Panels and workshops 0 Comments

In addition to this they will also host a small dubbing-contest during the workshop where you can dub a voice in a clip from Avatar: The Legend of Korra, and the one who does the best dub gets a price!
