We are delighted to welcome Cami Cosplay and Yoshu Cosplay from Denmark as cosplay panelist and judges for our cosplay contest!
Cami has been a cosplayer for just over three years, and in August 2015 she won the first contest she ever entered for best craftsmanship. This qualified her to be one of Denmarks three representatives in this summers Nordic Championships, where those of you who watched might have seen her stunning costumes in action! She loves working with details to make her costumes look as visually interesting as possible.
Yoshu has been part of the cosplay community for nine years, and has in this time worked up quite a list of achievements. This includes representing Denmark at the World Cosplay Summit (2012), the European Cosplay Gathering (3013) and CICAF in China (2014). Her specialties in cosplay include performance, embroidery, fabric research and detail work.
If you want to learn from these two brilliant cosplayers, make sure to not miss their panel:

For the first time in Norway you can come check out the gameshow where nobody wins, but someone’s gonna lose!
Grand Batsu pits two teams against each other in stupid competitions and insane quizzes in a show where the contestants must give it their all not to end up in last place. Previously hosted in Närcon, the show now travels across the border and will make its norwegian debut at Banzaicon!
A lecture about queer, ethnic and normative representation in Harry Potter, with Robin and Chris (aka. Sirius Black and James Potter from The Mischief Managers).
Pick your favourite date from a line-up of Harry Potter characters. The only issue: you won’t know who any of them are before you pick. All you can do is ask them questions and trust your instincts to get you the perfect magical date.
From the world of 3D-renders and tiny polygons, we are very excited to present Hans Gunnar Brekke!
With 12 years of experience bringing movie-magic to the silver-screen, he’s the guy you talk to when you need some monsters rampaging through the street or a worryingly large wolf terrorizing your protagonists.
He is currently the Head of Visual Effects at Westerdals Oslo ACT, and before coming back home to Norway he spent some time in New Zealand working as a lead/senior animator with Weta Digital on projects like The Hobbit and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Other films where you can see his work includes the Jungle Book, the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Drag me to Hell, Cloverfield and Enchanted.
At Banzaicon he will be regaling us with stories of his climb to the top in the world of animation and VFX and what the day to day work looks like. You’ll get to see some of his work, including some exclusive behind-the-scenes material. And of course he’ll give some advice on how to make your own career in film, including an introduction of Westerdals new VFX course.
Ps. Some of the work shown in this panel is not meant for publication, and therefore taking pictures or filming will not be allowed. We ask that you please respect these rules so that we can continue getting such cool guests in the future!
Mitternacht Cosplay and Rake Makes Cosplay/SFX are both from Sweden, where they have been involved in cosplay for about a decade. Mitternacht studies preschool-teaching, but otherwise works as a makeup artist, blogger and cosplay promoter and reviewer for various companies. Rake Makes is a certified CAD (Computer aided design) engineer and active member of the 3D printing community who often does cosplay comissions on his free time.
This powercouple has won several awards at various cosplay events, both have competed in the Swedish Cosplay Championship, and Mitternacht has represented Sweden in the Nordic Cosplay Championship. Additionally they are both experienced contest judges and cosplay panellists, skills which we are very lucky to have them share with us Banzaicon, where they will be hosting several panels:
- 3D-Printing and cosplay – black magic or reality?
- Cosplay and social media – How to navigate the internet and get your name known online
- Cosplay Makeup – Bodypaint, contouring and face paint

Joining us this year all the way from California, USA, is Mr. Charles White, who works at NASA’s (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Charles has 30 years experience of exploring the solar system where he’s helping the Mars 2020 mission, the Asteroid Redirect Mission (ARM) and other exciting space projects. Charles also is the founder of the Desert Wizards of Mars, a Burning Man organization of artists and engineers that have built the Black Rock Observatory. He will speak to us about the past, present and future plans for space exploration with robots and humankind!
His alter ego, Max Singularity, is the One True Pope of EVE Online; a spaceship sandbox MMO with a long history and fanatical player-base. Together they have not only inundated themselves into the dangerous political landscape of the alliance leaders, but also been the progenitors and main driving force for Roleplaying within the game. Mr. White will to that effect be holding a second panel on roleplaying, videogames and the Space-Pope’s rise to power!
You can see more of both his Holiness and Charles White at their YouTube channel.
We might have a space theme, but that doesn’t mean there is no room for a bit of magic at Banzaicon.
The Mischief Managers are a Harry Potter centered cosplay group known for their gag videos and skits on youtube. They mainly portray the Marauders and the rest of the older generation of Hogwarts students, but have been seen donning other HP characters as well. We are very happy to welcome them to Banzaicon, where they will be putting on a variety of different events for your entertainment.
You can check out their videos on their channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqP-5kU6UOaYpGzyotxYKaA
If you’ve seen Ingridbeast before it’s probably in her astounding Kili-costume, or otherwise flaunting a handsome beard. Or maybe you’ve had the fortune of hearing her sing one of her heartbreaking original songs on stage, possibly at this years Nordic Cosplay Championship. No matter where you find her, this multi-talented chameleon of a cosplayer is happy to share of her vast knowledge in both cosplay performance and crafting. We are very happy to have her as a guest at Banzaicon, where she will bring with her a couple of new and very interesting events.

In addition to this they will also host a small dubbing-contest during the workshop where you can dub a voice in a clip from Avatar: The Legend of Korra, and the one who does the best dub gets a price!
